What’s the Secret to Making American Flag Dip?

Make sure you chill this spread at least 1 hour before decorating so it will set properly. Also, don’t stress about keeping the lines straight because the raspberries are usually different sizes. If you want them to be uniform, purchase the firmest berries you can find.

It can get a little tricky if you don’t use a round bowl that’s large enough. A round bowl works best if it’s the size of a shallow pie plate. If you want straighter lines, a rectangular dish is much easier to work with.

Recipe FAQ

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes. In fact, it tastes even better after chilling overnight. Wait to decorate with the berries until just before serving.

Can I use bottled lemon juice?

Fresh lemon juice offers the best flavor, but bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch.

Can I use frozen berries?

Fresh berries are recommended because frozen berries release moisture as they thaw, which affects the appearance of the flag.

Can I make this in a different serving dish?

A shallow round pie plate works well, but any shallow serving dish will work. A rectangular-shaped dish is the easiest way to keep the lines straight.
